The Ruins of the Zapoteca City, "Mitla" is near the city of Oaxaca, Oaxaca, in Mexico. It is the most impressive example of decorative patterning in architecture to be found in the Americas. "Chan-Chan", in Northern Peru, is the only site that compares, however, in Chan-Chan the reliefs are accomplished in "adobe", while in Mitla it is pure stone. (above, photo taken by the artist)
